Liz Flemming is the Founding Producing Artistic Director of Out of the Box Theatrics, an Off-Broadway, Non-Profit committed to lifting the voice of Marginalized Communities through the stories we tell. OOTB also produces site-specific work, providing a more intimate & unique experience in order to challenge our audience's expectations of theatre. Liz Founded OOTB in 2015 in the hopes that she could create a more inclusive and accessible space, while also employing actors and directors under full Union contracts. As a visually impaired artist, the message of inclusion has always been an essential part of Liz’s personal mission.
Since that time, Liz has headed five seasons of fully Produced New Work & Revivals such as: You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Songs For A New World, “Master Harold”... And the Boys, The Owl and the Pussy Cat, Nocturne, Shoes and Baggage (Starring Cheryl Stern), Into the Woods, The Pink Unicorn (Starring Tony Winner Alice Ripley), and Baby (Off-Broadway Alliance Nomination for Best Revival) which featured an All-Star Cast (Christina Sajous (Sponge Bob Squarepants), Gabrielle McClinton (Pippin), and Robert Fowler (The Producers).
Independently, notable work includes Creative Producer on the New Musical Mommie Dearest (written by Christina Crawford & David Nehls), Sam’s Room (New York Theatre Barn), Dying in Boulder with the Tony Award-Winning Organization La MaMa, and The Evolution Of Mann with The Cell Theatre, for whom she has also served as Associate Producer.
Liz produced The Last Five Years starring Nasia Thomas (Caroline or Change) & Nicholas Edwards (Frozen), and remounted Baby in 2021. Stay tuned for OOTB's 2022 announcement coming soon. Out of the Box will serve as an Executive Producer with Yellow Sound Label on the NEW Baby Cast Recording with a release date coming soon!
